Who is boo?

boo design studio was born from a shared love of storytelling through artistic expression. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Amanda and Jo Booabbood—who met while studying interior architecture and product design at ALBA (Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts)—the studio has become a bridge between tradition and innovation. Since graduating in 2009, they have returned to ALBA as educators, supporting the next generation of designers while continuing to explore and pioneer their own creative approach to the artform.

From their studio in Doha, established in 2021, boo has evolved, creating designs that transform everyday objects into truly timeless pieces. Their work has been exhibited at renowned biennials and design festivals across Doha, Beirut, Dubai, Singapore, Paris and Amsterdam, with recent showcases at Milan Design Week. Shortlisted for Design Doha Biennial and twice for the prestigious AlUla Design Award, boo is internationally renowned for reinterpreting regional craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.

Over the years, boo has collaborated with some of the most respected institutions and brands, weaving cultural narratives through design. From creating bespoke installations for Hermès to collaborating with Qatar Museums for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, their work embodies a deep reverence for heritage, materiality, and genuine meaning. Their collaborations extend across the region and beyond, with projects for Qatar Foundation and Ithra in Saudi Arabia, alongside appearances at major European design platforms.

In 2025, boo design studio was named to the prestigious AD100 Middle East list, a recognition of their impact on regional design and their enduring commitment to innovation in their craft. With each new collaboration and collection, Amanda and Jo continue to create work that doesn’t just serve a function but also tells a story—inviting the world to experience the deeper meaning of narrative-driven design.
